The cell is the base unit of all organisms on earth except viruses (jerks). Most individual bacteria consist of only one cell while plants and animals consist of many many more. 

Small hairlike structures on the outer layer of the cell wall are called pili. Long hairlike structures in the same position are called flagella. Both dirty sounding words. 

Animal cells do NOT have a cell wall - just a plasma membrane. So don't talk about the cell wall of your cells because then you'll sound like an jerkface dummy. The abbreviation for endoplasmic reticulum is (ER). There are two different kinds of ER: smooth and rough... science people
